hello
im trying to understand how the cooling system works
i read that there is 3 coolers for the intake(heat exchanger and 2 remote radiators), 1 radiator for engine coolant and 1 cooler for the transmission?
i try to look for videos that explain what the remote radiators do but could not find one, only short videos on how to install.
i just ordered the csf heat exchanger and trying to decide if i need the remote units too ?
and about the transmission cooler ? anyone using an aftermarket one ? any before and after logs ?
thank you very much

It's late and I'm tired, but the short version is no. You don't need to change any other heat exchangers to reap all of the benefits of an aftermarket intake manifold.

If you really want to know, I can post up some info tomorrow (leaving work in three minutes). Honestly, it's pretty complex from what I remember, but interesting nonetheless.

Actually you got it wrong. There are 3 radiators for the engine, 1 is the heat exchanger and 1 for the transmission.

You could try this link, or google "BMW B58 Information PDF" and the first couple results should have the surface level information on the cooling system you are interested in.

Thanks a bunch!

To sum up the initial question:
-The front center radiator uses coolant to cool the compressed air AND the A/C condenser
-The 2 from sides radiators uses coolant to cool the engine itself AND the transmission(page 38)
->I suppose both coolers are linked to both the engine and transmission?
-The LSD is only cooled by air?

This is the same information I was going to post, and my source isn't in nearly as pleasing of a format, so thanks!
I forget the post on these forums, but someone had linked it previously and it does make for some interesting reading on the designs and decisions when making the B58. Even if it is mostly intended as marketing wankery. Luckily it was easy to find.
