Hi all! I'm new to this forum, I joined as I am currently saving up to buy the upcoming Mk.V Supra, is it a good idea to buy it in it's first year of release? Or should I wait, if so, how long should I wait? Is bmw motor as bad as everyone say it is? If so, why?(pls don't use technical terms, I'm really new to these things✌)

Generally, its never a good idea to buy the first year make and model of any car.

If you wait however, you will be waiting a long time. I think It usually takes car mfg's about 3 years to work out all the kinks, and by that time sometimes they change the body or do a refresh which changes the appearance so it's tricky.

If you like the car buy it, no need to wait.

It's been a decent money pit over the years! Has a built 7MGTE, 57mm CT26, 330mm brembos, custom coilovers and rear suspension, full TechnoToyTuning catalogue, (the original) 5 stud MS65 Crown hub upgrade, 16" Starion widebody wheels, IS200 diff upgrade, lots more stuff I can't quite remember now lol

I want to retain the stock block, because I'm not taking it drag racing. Just a little hoonigan, maybe drift. And I used mostly aftermarket parts off eBay, had a local mechanic help out. More boost too, and a cryo-treated block and conrods.

Supra resurrected next spring, beyond Porsche with Toyota and BMW joint?

Supra, the world 's sports car fans waited for soon, finally came back. The new Supra jointly developed by Toyota and BMW showed its first appearance at the Geneva Motor Show the other day. However, what appeared on the stage was not a commercial car but a race specification car.

At the moment of SUPRA 's Amber rushing to the stage by the media of each country, the voice "Wow ~" or "HEAEE" rose greatly.

To be honest, I think that legendary sports cars in Japan made such a noise in the world media since the Nissan GT-R that appeared in 2007. When Tetsuya Tada of development chief stood in front of Supra, the camera was pointed out from every direction with a commotion as if the movie actor went up to the stage.

But why the race specification car? There was a break in its bold determination. Why did you decide to ask Mr. Tada whether he began the race car from the resurgence of this memorable car.

"Many race cars will be made based on commercial cars, but this time we thought about the reverse process. We made it first, supposing Supra will be on race.Of course, mass production It was a result of various investigations on car-based categories, "Tada started talking. In other words, if you make a racing machine that emphasizes aerodynamic drag, you can see the aero required for a commercial car.

"If you make it to the competition base from the beginning, you do not have to spend time to remodel it when you make it a race car later. For example, if you open a hole in the bonnet, I realized that the air cooling performance of the brake improved and the downforce improved with the rear wing. "The

Supra seen in Geneva is a powerful full mark. A little conservative surroundings around the nose feels like lacking in beauty, but I thought that if it evaluated on Mr. Tada's pure sports route, it was an industrial product of Pikaichi.

Front spoilers, air dams, rear wings and rear diffusers, which are flashy aero parts about this Supra, are an essential bodywork for race cars. Of course, when becoming a general car, there are aero parts that disappear, if there are remaining parts. Due to the air cooling of the engine, the hole opened in the hood also disappears. "In a mass-produced car, you can not open a hole, because mud enters, I wonder if you should attach a lid," Mr. Tada says.

As I listen to the story, I see, indeed, for Toyota this attempt feels like it was a big adventure.

We developed jointly with BMW where corporate culture is completely different, and the exterior design was handled by Calte company of California. Moreover, the production seems to be Magna · Staya company of Austria, not Japan. The basic design platform, engine and mission are basically the same as BMW's next Z4. The engine is a direct 6 NA specification and a straight six turbo, and from the strongest model it will be able to expect more than 400 ps.

There was 6 MT in the old Supra which was discontinued in 2002. I felt the times changed as I asked what happened to the fifth generation this time. Mr. Tada says "6 MT is under consideration because it seems that the manual is slower than the 8-speed AT, the acceleration is slow, the clutch is exhausted, so 6 MT is not needed", but 2019 , I think that there is probably no 6 MT option when mass-produced cars come out.

The story of the new Supra began right after popular model 86 appeared. "One day when I was in Europe at work, I received a call from Vice President Uchiyamada and said," Please go to Munich for a secret to anyone to see if you can make BMW and cars, "tomorrow, Mr. Tada recalls.

Why did you collaborate with BMW? Mr. Tada comments that it is because the one who tied up somewhere to make something more economical can make better things.

So, the basic structure is the same, how to differentiate products, how to make BMW the Z4 mainly focusing on rugsyuri and sports so far, Toyota has developed on the line of pure sports . "The benchmark was a Porsche," Mr. Tada says.

Porsche? In other words, this time it is not a benchmark for a particular vehicle type to say this, but it seems to aim the overall Porsche ride. When I was told that "I want to make a pure sports that I can not defeat Porsche runs", I thought that it seemed to be reasonable.

Recalling from now, the development process of the new Supra recalls when Toyota collaborated with Subaru and made 86 BRZ. Subaru was responsible for the basic structure of Toyota 86 platform, engine and suspension. Like BMW did this time.

"The business of sports cars is tough, so we can not expect as many units and we have to make a lot of maniac parts, which is less return, so it's worth while collaborating with another company," Mr. Tada said. I see. "But this time, I can not make it with the old model of 3 million yen," I regret. The rumor seems to be more than 5 million yen non-turbo specification.

I thought that the times changed again to the extent that I heard the story. It can be ridden in virtual before riding again in real time. In other words, before the Spring of 2019 in which mass-produced cars appear, the new Supra appears in "Gran Turismo SPORT".

By making 86, the Toyota fans in the world awoke, and it seems that a big voice came out that "I want you to make a more authentic sports car." There are few adults who can not wait. People who can not wait for a year, I would like you to test drive by "Gran Turismo SPORT" update version of April 2018. I want to test it as soon as possible.

This article supposedly quotes Tada-San mentioning an "8-speed AT", which of course contradicts the article from a few months back that mentioned a DCT. I'm still sticking to my guns and saying it'll be a ZF-8HP.

5 million yen for a non-turbo spec is an interesting proposition. Generally, Toyota will more aggressively price cars like this in North America, so maybe we'll see 45k for a base NA model and 55k for the turbo? :dunno:

45k for non turbo boosting 340 HP or so, give or take with 3500 pounds to move with? Sounds nice.

The 55k? Probably 400HP, but with more features and down to 2999-3149 lbs, so it is a different demon altogether.

All in all, can't wait to lease this bad boy. If toyota even lets that happen

How many times does A70 have to say the mule weighs in at 2900 pounds??? 1318kg for anyone that uses the correct units :p

A non turbo would weigh less than the turbo - and the mules are turbina.

That said.... An N/A six (which i still think is unlikely in this emissions times) with an auto would suck. N/A needs manual, especially with a glorious NA six.
