Here we go, I'm starting to hear and see it already. These diehard Supra haters are starting to move the goal post now. All of a sudden "performance isn't everything" now that the so called "Supra killer" has fallen short of it's hype, same ones who trash the 86 and BRZ for not having a turbo or 3 sec 0-60 now all sudden "nobody drives like that anyway so who cares". ?

But side by side on the street it doesn’t look as “gapplebees” as some people said it would.
I mean it sure looks like the very definition of gapplebees to me. The 'supra killer' with an open diff and manual was about 8 tenths of a second slower to 60 than lc auto in the performance... so pretty sure sport z is definitely going to lose by busses. And at 50k (before markups) for the performance and to have to get the auto to be close. The whole the Z is going to be faster, cheaper, and have a manual don't really hold much water anymore. Cheaper by a bit sure but you also get a whole lot less.

Stock tires are pilot sport PS2, you have the wrong data highlighted. It’s equivalent to the Z guys saying the Supra in the video was tuned… ??
My 2021 Supra came with PS4S tires. I just assumed that's what the cars are using these days.

Either way, the point is that the dry grip is roughly the same, within a percentage point.

I just checked on the z site. They're being pretty realistic for the most part. A lot of damn that manual is slow, and the price is about the same only to lose.

Sounds like a sense of disappointment in Nissan on pricing. The 40k for the base was always a sales gimmick. I think people thought sure I won't get the base but the performance will be 45 if the base is 40. Not 50+, combined with I'm sure they gave it a little 'extra' 400hp;)

If you are still stock 3.0 you are already slow..... these days

to ME, will be interesting to see what mods the new Z can handle and how durable it is compared to superior BMW hardware.

Lol I just read the thread and I agree most people were reasonable other than the one guy commenting that the Supra was tuned.

I think that's it right there. If you mod your Z you can have a good run against a stock 3.0.

But I think the supra is just easier to mod. Bolt ons may be closer, but weight is still an issue. The ease of upgrading the the turbo on the b58 just can't be beat as well. Finally, no idea of how much that auto in the z can handle or be upgraded.

Well it’s interesting because people on there comment about “bmw reliability “ but apparently haven’t seen what a b58 and the rest of the drivetrain the Supra is capable of.

We should be kind, after all they just woke up to the realization that new automatics are way faster than manuals.

I don't know if they're ready for b58s are actually stout.

To be fair I rarely see any Zs at the drag strip and when I do people post videos in the local fb group calling them out for their very slow runs. So how could they know the b58s are fast since their only source of info has been yt click bait of 400hp supra killer with a manual for 40k!
