I find this guy's videos so lame. I especially love how because the Supra is a clear winner in all his bullshit tests, he feels the need to give Nissan a reach around with make-believe track results.

Still in Looneytown are we?Gonna be fun watching the GRMN out-NISMO the NISMO
Based on what? A love of everything Nissan isn't going to get this POS over the line! That being said, I can see the NISMO being faster in the hands of an inexperienced driver.
Yeah, it’s sad it’s such an old platform. Kinda reminds me of the Mustang when they were hesitant to ditch the live rear axel. No one wanted that dawgBased on what? A love of everything Nissan isn't going to get this POS over the line!
Bingo, dude has a massive hate boner for the car lol.Yeah, he doesn't need to "bet" that the NISMO will take the Supra around a track, plenty of outlets have done that comparison with conclusive results. Whether it's more technical tracks, or big ones with long straights, the Supra wins hands down by a wide margin.
That being said, I can see the NISMO being faster in the hands of an inexperienced driver.
But yeah, Sam doesn't really hide the fact that he doesn't like the Supra. I think his subscribers just get a kick out of him constantly losing to one, so they are always asking for Supra v. <car> content.
The Supra is a lot of car and can get pretty drifty. It's impressive how fast you can be going and still have the rear end step out a bit coming on throttle through a corner. I've not driven the new Z, but I've thrashed a number of 350 and 370s and always found them to be really easy to drive hard.Based on what? I think Britt Casey had said the opposite. He said the Supra was a "skill cannon" if you're a good driver you can be really fast in it, but the Z was more literal and easier to drive but didn't have the potential. At least that's how I interpreted it. Britt Casey is a professional race driver so he's pretty experienced or at least significantly more than like an average track driver like me.The Supra is a lot of car and can get pretty drifty. That's also what Bret Casey said in his track test of the Supra v Z. The Supra is faster overall, but an experienced driver would probably be faster in the Z.
A third data point would be the awful Lightning Lap the car turned in 2021, it was over 3 seconds slower than the Z managed.
That doesn't really add up. One would think an experienced driver should actually be faster in the Supra because it is, you know.. faster, despite it being a bit of a handful. In any case, I haven't seen any conclusive evidence to suggest the Nissan's are actually any good. I've seen numerous reports about the Zs inability to brake effectively as well as its general poor handling. Not to mention the awful autospastic transmission. The Nismo seems to have fared better but even Nissan shills tend to agree that the Nismo is what the regular Z should've been. Of course, negative aspects are always played down by the "reviews" because they are really just paid advertisements. Kind of like how you conveniently cite the Supra's 2021 Lightning Lap times but ignore the 2023 times which were much much better. And in a manual. lmfao. The Supra is a lot of car and can get pretty drifty. It's impressive how fast you can be going and still have the rear end step out a bit coming on throttle through a corner. Lightning Lap 2023 covered the Supra when they had a manual come out and literally called out that the 2021 time was almost 4 seconds slower but the driver from 2021 wasn't employed by Car and Driver anymore so they couldn't ask what was up. The Supra they ran in 2023 was over half a second faster than the Nismo with a manual transmission.
That’s good to hear she even more track focused now. This car was blazing fast when I met a guy driving his stock (sway bars and tires) 2021 on track.RE: LL 2021 vs 2023 lap times
I'm not discounting the fact that the driver may have been a factor. However, having owned and tracked both a 2021 and now a 2024 MT I can tell you the suspension revisions that were made in 2023 made a massive improvement in the car's behavior on track. It is much more composed, the front and rear work together in a more predictable way and overall the car is wayyyy more confidence inspiring and frankly just easier to drive at the limit and beyond. IMO, the revisions were a bigger factor in the lap time disparity vs just a driver change.
The whole "if you're a good driver, you can go very fast in it, but if you're not, you're going to end up in the ditch." comment gave me the impression he thought the Z was faster in unskilled hands. But I can see how it's ambiguous. He said the Supra was a "skill cannon" if you're a good driver you can be really fast in it, but the Z was more literal and easier to drive but didn't have the potential.
