Does anyone have experience with the F8X or G8X M4? A few good examples have become available in my area, some in manual form, and I'm at the point where I could really use the rear seat or its extra fold down space. My initial take is that it is a completely different beast, where I lose some instant sharpness that I love with the Supra, but have have more stability everywhere else at the cost of stiffer suspension. I'm on the fence because I wouldn't drive either much, but when I do, I can take the wife and kids plus weekend bags/golf clubs/etc. where I couldn't with the MKV. Can anyone with long term experience steer me in the right direction with either of these M4s? TIA

Looks like there's already a lot of suspension goodies out there for the M4:

BMW F8X M2/M3/M4 BMW Suspension Parts (splparts.com)

If you want it tighter, SPL is a great way to go. The M4 will be heftier. But like you said, you won't be tracking it much or perhaps at all. Add some sway bars and go slightly lower. That'll be one hellofa great driving M4!

I love the F8X exterior. Even without any mods it looks aggressive.
However, for me latest tech was important. F series don't have that. Same old boring 90's looks.. at that time I looked at used and they didn't speak to me..
G8X.. for me it's rounder overall which makes it less aggressive, but many mods out there. It surely is faster but heavier.

I think you've already made your decision per wife/kids convenience on the M4. You're debating F/G.

I've had 2 F80s , both DCT
They're different in a lot of ways
The M car is more raw and theatrical, flair galore
Everyday usability is great as I had a sedan
With 305s in the back she had a fine ass
But I wouldn't trade the Zupra now for another one
I feel the DCT has a lot of short comings, especially at low speeds and around town
The suspension is FIRM, and jittery at times, great when you're 10/10 on the track, sucks in the back roads , almost feels over damped
The Zupra is much more behaved, and very well damped
The pre LCI F80 had a very twitchy rear end, and the steering was not great
BMW fixed a lot in the LCI and competition models , but those issues were lessened, not mitigated
The interior is a notch above the Zupra and the CF roof is drop dead sexy

I am in the same boat as you. Got wife and baby. And the Supra sucks bc I can’t drive them around. I know I will regret getting rid of her tho. G80m3 comp x drive or x3 mc would be great.

I had a F80 M3 ZCP DCT. Lightly modded with a few choice bits: M performance suspension, camber plates, good alignment, lightweight forged wheels with upsized PS4S and AA equal length resonated midpipe. I found it to be a very impressive performer. The chassis is super rigid and the S55 engine a powerhouse. But it feels utilitarian and sounds unflattering. It's also a big car. I could never fall in love or have much fun driving it. In many aspects the M is the superior car but I'm much happier behind the wheel of the Supra. YMMV.

I just came from a modded G80, so not exactly M4 but close enough to give input on the platform.

Biggest reason I swapped the M3 for the Supra was size. The M3 feels like a big boi (which it is). It's going to be quick as hell, especially with just a few really basic mods, but it will always feel large. Car definitely needed some lowering springs, which helped a ton with overall feel but you're right: it's a FAR stiffer ride than the Supra.

The S58 is a dream. Tons of power across the range, especially so with some basic bolt-ons and a piggyback tune.

It's an amazing machine, one of my favorite cars I've ever owned to be honest. But at the end of the day I have way more fun with cars of smaller stature, so that's why I'm here.

Happy to answer any specific questions you might have about the platform.

If you are going to take the wife and kids - just buy the M3 and be done with it.

You guys are missing the point - you need the Supra so you *cannot* take both the wife and children along. Grab a second commuter for cheap and keep the Supra, if it fits your budget.

There is a rear latch for a child seat on the Supra, and my 3 year old loves the once-in-a-blue-moon spirited drives I give her.
