Do you guys remember that BMW insider saying if a manual isn't offered on the Z4 than the Supra wouldn't be getting one either? So if this happens, does that mean the Z4 is getting a stick as well?
Man, I'd think only handful of people would buy MT Z4... It's more leisure focused imho..

I can ask since I'm also on Bimmerpost.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Debuts January 25.
Maybe Supra will follow? Doubt...
Funny that you brought up the Sequoia. Since they will both start production at the same time you would think they would also be unveiled around the same time frame.

I think you're referring to this old post.

Toyota simply can't offer something that BMW doesn't make.

Yeah probably.

Does anyone know if the B58 is offered with a manual?

For the U.S. I would agree, but I think manuals sells like hotcakes in Europe.

To be honest Toyoda-san was giving him a bunch of flack as well. It's just a fun rivalry.

However some Nissan fans on the Z forum however are taking it juuuust a tad more seriously... Some of those members act like you're on SupraForums...

All in all, the jabs are fun, but some people on the internet just lose the point of a joke.
Oh ya it was just fun banter between competition none of it was serious tones at all.

Manuals are not the hottest thing in Europe. M2 as an example. The US in an outlier overall -

--When it comes to the gearbox choices, customers were also quite prone to the 7-speed DCT unit which accounted for 74.4 percent of all cars. The remaining 25.6 percent were, of course, manual gearbox M2s. And while the worldwide figures tell a rather disappointing story, looking over the US figures things are a lot better balanced. As a matter of fact, the US is the only country where the manual box is more popular than the automatic, 52.1 percent of the cars ordered here being manuals. --

Thanks for the link. I never looked up the numbers, just went with what everyone keeps saying on the web about manuals being popular in the Europe lol.

I am going to laugh if the manual comes out, sales go crazy and the auto ends up being more rare and worth more. Doubt it's going to happen but would be great.

Maybe Toyota is introducing a new trim level for the manual?

Down in Australia the 3.0 comes with the 18 inch wheels and unpainted brakes.

It also has smaller rear brakes and 10 speakers. Just a thought, but maybe with lower than expected demand for the 2.0 Toyota might phase it out with something like this? I recall several people asking for a base 3.0 with crappy brakes and wheels because they were just going to aftermarket anyways.
idk how much Toyota could shave off price wise but a stripped out 3.0 base model may make more sense with the upcoming release of the Z.

Agreed ?

I'm a waiter. My husband has a 94 already and I've loved MKIVs since I was a teen, but just cannot justify the insane markup in pricing over the last few years. Parts are scarce and so overpriced. So many of our friends have MKIV money pits. God forbid if anything major went wrong - I'm not a risk taker lol

So... I turned to the MKV back when I joined here a few years ago. I promptly left when no manual was announced, but no other car moves me quite like the Supra. Sounds silly but I've had stupid cars most of my adult life unlike many of the enthusiasts on this board I imagine. I didn't learn to drive manual until I got my Miata a few years ago so the novelty hasn't worn off for me yet. I guess that's why it's been a non-negotiable for me. I just love manual shifting and the coordination of it all I guess.

That said, if Toyota decides to play with my emotions and pull the manual idea, I'll probably still buy the auto anyway. I'm growing pretty impatient by the day.
driving manual gets old, trust me. 21 years of owning only manual cars until the Supra. Iā€™m 37 now, Iā€™m done shifting. I got really tired of the traffic and constant shifting.
The ZF transmission is a great transmission. I hope it doesnā€™t stop you from getting the mkv because of it. I thought I would miss the manual in a sports car but I donā€™t. Itā€™s just so good at shifting and itā€™s just so fast.

i hope that helps put things into perspective. I definitely understand the money pit of the mkiv. I still have my 93 3000gt since 1995.

Looks same to me.
BMW did pair the B58 with a 6 speed manual in the F30 340i.
its still sedan dimensions on a coupe the driveshaft etc not to mention input shafts and everything would be different. Isnā€™t that also a gen1 b58 bs a gen 2

Now this has me worried, we got our A91 here in PR without brake paint, drive assist package, and jbl speakers. When I was searching for buying one I saw 6 different A91 and they all were the same, all the ones I've seen on meets are this way too.

Do you know of a way I could check the rear brakes to confirm if they are the smaller ones?
