If you do that, where does it end?
"The Supra is a Ferrari F8 killer, having less performance for less money"
Makes no sense.
The R35 was a supercar killer when it launched, because it was actually faster than some higher tiered cars when it did.
The only thing the Z is killing is it's target buyer demographic. It's already too expensive out of the gate, and the dealers will price the Z out of existence.
R.I.P. Z, we never knew ye.
For hypothetical discussion sake, half the things people spill out on forums make no sense lol.

If someone is in the market for a Ferrari, doubt they'd bat an eye at the Supra. If someone is considering the Z or Supra, they will probably be cross checking with capable cars in the 45-65$k range and if someone doesn't have a biases towards one brand or the other, they may choose the car that offers the best value. If the only thing that mattered was 0-60 and lap time, we'd all have the AT 3.0 Supra, but there's a new wave of MT enthusiasts (triggering) that may be compelled by both the MT Supra and MT Z depending on price and whatever the dealers will add with markups. If anything I am biased towards the Supra because I am a fan of BMW and have a deposit in since April, but if there was a mid level Z trim with a performance pack at $45k, I'd be tempted to test drive a Z later on and consider trading in my hypothetical 3.0 MT Supra.

People may hate this opinion, but after all it is my opinion, but I think Toyota should have done away with the 4cyl Supra and used that motor in the new GR86. It would have been awesome to get a turbo 86 from the factory, and that boxer motor sucks. Also it seems like a more natural progression to move from the B48 GR86 to the B58 Supra.

The GR86 could have been the more affordable version of the Supra, the 4cyl Supra seems kinda sacrilegious.

I second this. That would be awesome. Too bad they are locked in with Subaru. 😔

It would be at least 5 to 10k more expensive. The whole point of the twins is affordable entry into the RWD sportscar market.
The 2.0 Supra is exactly what you want, a GR86 with a B48. But instead of it being in a GR86 wrapper, it's in a Supra wrapper.

The usual popular response I've seen elsewhere is the G16E inline 3 cyl turbo from the GR Yaris (257 hp 266 tq)/Corolla (300 hp 273 tq) .

Somehow they didn't think it was as much of a driver's car as SG did. That lap time though, big oof.
SG is biased on this one, no getting around those poor stats and lap times no way no how

So now the Z group is claiming it was never a track car, Nissan never designed it for a track... first it was the Z was a Supra killer, now its, "it was never a straight line car" "it was never a track car" "it was never a sports car always a GT" when will the excuses end?

Again, I'm not against the Z, I'm glad they made it. The more 2 door sports cars the better. Please let's keep going. What I like to do now is point out all the hypocrites that for 3 years on any Supra post about how wait until the Z comes out, the Z is a Supra killer and all that. So yeah, I'm waiting........ I'm not impressed.

Throttle House(best youtubers ever) just released their review:

Yikes, on stock tires it's actually slower than the GR86, that's bad. Even with new tires (from the SG review), the Z's track time is closer to the GR86 than it is to the Supra.

So now the narrative shifts again. The Z is not a Supra killer, it's not a straight line car, it's not a track car, it's not a sports car. You can't drive it at the limit, it's bouncy and unpredictable, the transmission grinds when shifting into 2nd, and the exhaust is quiet and lacks emotion. That's a lot you'd have to fix to make it an enjoyable car to drive IMO.
