For hypothetical discussion sake, half the things people spill out on forums make no sense lol.If you do that, where does it end?
"The Supra is a Ferrari F8 killer, having less performance for less money"
Makes no sense.
The R35 was a supercar killer when it launched, because it was actually faster than some higher tiered cars when it did.
The only thing the Z is killing is it's target buyer demographic. It's already too expensive out of the gate, and the dealers will price the Z out of existence.
R.I.P. Z, we never knew ye.
If someone is in the market for a Ferrari, doubt they'd bat an eye at the Supra. If someone is considering the Z or Supra, they will probably be cross checking with capable cars in the 45-65$k range and if someone doesn't have a biases towards one brand or the other, they may choose the car that offers the best value. If the only thing that mattered was 0-60 and lap time, we'd all have the AT 3.0 Supra, but there's a new wave of MT enthusiasts (triggering) that may be compelled by both the MT Supra and MT Z depending on price and whatever the dealers will add with markups. If anything I am biased towards the Supra because I am a fan of BMW and have a deposit in since April, but if there was a mid level Z trim with a performance pack at $45k, I'd be tempted to test drive a Z later on and consider trading in my hypothetical 3.0 MT Supra.
