Also made the jump on femto while I had a rental car for work. Took absolutely no time at all and used the downtime to install the flex fuel kit and do cable management anyways. I second the sentiment that there is really no excuse now.

Welcome fellow okc’er! I will be going mhd real quick too! Theres a group of us supras in a snapchat group with all different mods. Do you have snapchat?
We have probably driven past each other once or twice! But no, I am too old to be able to work a snapchat XD

Just a FYI for those thinking of unlocking, sent to Femto earlier this week. Got a label for next day air to ship there.

They shipped back 3 day select. I emailed asking about it but no response. Not sure if it’s bc I’m on west coast and/or prices of gas causing shipping prices to go up.

May want to check with AT to see if they’re still shipping back next day air.

For those of us (possibly) coming back after a few years away... is it possible to flash back to factory settings for smog in Commiefornia? I browsed this thread and didn't see mention of it (at work, so completely distracted so may have missed it).

Have a JB4 and looks like now there are better other options. Full unlock, after a femto/AT unlock, can I just plug it back into the car and it would run normally. Then later decide on tuning/flashing software, and if ever re-locked by update, can bench unlock on my own. AT needs a tool from them (I guess), femto needs ?? to bench unlock?

So I chose FEMTO because you don't need an AT tool, so I have the option of getting buying my own or borrowing a bench unlocker.

As far as I have heard, yes. Can’t 100% confirm or deny as I haven’t had to do it yet.

Btw - if you are coming back to this platform, buy my car from me.

Most posts I have seen here and facebook is that people are having to go to the dealer and get the whole car flashed back to stock so the checksum in the DME matches what Toyota provides to the California SMOG board.....

hmm. I’m jb4 cali and hesitant to unlock too. I’ve seen comments that the unlockers say it will/should work but until someone goes to a strict smog shop and it passes I’ll wait. I’ve got a few years before I “have” to smog and I’ve never been pulled over for dumb reasons so just being way too cautious.

It's the CVN mismatch that will kill you. That is what CA and MA currently check.

I know for a fact MHD does not spoof the CVN as I have done a before/after check.

Before/after flash:

Keen eyes will also notice the unlock value changes too. hahah. Originally Autotuner unlock and when flashed by MHD it now thinks it's a FEMTO unlock. ;)

No unlocked ECUs for me until I know it can pass smog :D

That's a hard pass for me. I don't mind, though. The cars are already fast enough for what I use them for. But.. it were easier....

I was told by both AT and Femto that this would in fact bring it back to OE spec checksum, CID, CVN, etc. But with their new unlock, you can still unlock it afterwards so that's a good thing for Cali people or anyone dealing with Smog. Can't confirm it tho, someone wanna try for us? :)

That is the one thing I haven't checked yet. I'll let someone else flash their unlock back to stock first.

You don't have to go to a dealer for that though, you can do it at home with ISTA. Still a pain in the ass though.
With ISTA, is that using the standard sub for Techstream Lite or the Professional?
