I asked them, looks to be sprung. I asked earlier about pedal pressure and the response was “a little more than stock”. I’d be interested if someone does go for the DM.

I've never seen anyone mention hard numbers with regard to pedal pressures for aftermarket clutches. Seems to me aftermarket manufacturers could easily tell you how much in percentages the clamping force was over stock so people could make a decision on what they are prepared to accept before they buy a clutch kit. "a little more than stock" doesn't cut it for me these days.

As much as I hat to admit it. It seems like Clutchmasters is the only one on the market right now that can handle big power. I've seen up to 920whp on it. And i've been fine at 700whp for 6000 miles.
Motiv has a twin disc website says capacity is 800-1000 lb*ft and @kern147 is running the BMW OEM "550i" clutch in a different platform than the supra IIRC and I thought he's making 600+ lb*ft torque IIRC.

https://www.motivmotorsport.com/products/motiv-twin-disc-clutch-bmw-b58

Seems like a twin disc is needed for streetable big power but somethings got to give (axles, trans, diff) at that point...

Greetings!

here is an owner of a mt supra; 2 original clutches broken

I'm from Spain and here they only sold 8 gr Supra units(MT), so I had no idea it was a common problem.

The thread is very helpful, thank you very much. I see that you are constantly updating the post with new options, but it is difficult for me to understand the motorsport slang in English;
As of today, what is the best aftermarket replacement option?

Thanks?

PTB clutches seem to be what everyone's gravitating towards. Clutchmasters seem to be problematic and the other options are heavy twin discs that aren't favorable for daily/casual driving

PTB is a go
Came here today to share the same thing lol.
CES is really one of the common folk shops that seems to get a lot of Supra business, I’m inclined to trust their recommendation of the PTB clutch.
Granted they seem to upsell and include lots of extra stuff in their “packages” , I don’t know of any other shops that have worked on more manual Supras yet.

I like them but I would wait and see. I bought my cm1000 because of them, specifically the HRB because of their recommendation and it failed multiple times on my car and it also failed on the car they marketed it on

That's the nature of the beast. I learned my lesson a while ago on one of my cars. Now, I just let other people test the products for me, lol!

CES marking up that clutch kit? Cheaper to buy off the PTB website but I'm not sure about shipping costs since it comes from Germany.

I went thru PTB's website because I was curious about shipping. They give 2 options: 28.2 euros or 201 euros, so it's still less than the CES markup.

I really recommend PTB clutch. Smooth gear engages, clutch pedal feels exactly like OEM and it handles torque well. Even my friends who tried my car, didn’t believe it’s an aftermarket clutch. Mine is twin disc clutch with single mass flywheel. You barely hear the chatter sometimes never.

Above is my clutch preference, 1000Nm is more than enough for me.
