Although a rumor, isn't Nissan gonna put it's turboed V6 from the infiniti Q60 into it's new Z? Why shouldn't Toyota do the same with its turboed V6 and new Supra?

Mine was an '06. It had horrible oil consumption issues - like a quart every ~700 miles bad. Took 4 "tests" at the dealership over the course of a year before the engine replacement was approved. It had several other problems during that time as well, but nothing that would have been a big deal in isolation. Maybe it ran great for years after all that, but it left such a bad taste that I just wanted it gone.
Is the '06 350Z the one with the slightly higher revving version of the VQ35DE(Rev-up?), before they switched over to the VQ35HR for the '07 model?

I think I have posted in this thread before but since it's been a while and things are progressing, here are my thoughts now.

I am not going to compare the 2 out of the box since i am a believer that the Supra will be better. If the z really is going to be 10k cheaper, I am going to look at it like, what can I do for 10k to make the car better? If dumping 10k makes the z a better performer than the supra at the same price point, then great! That's awesome. Now what happens when you dump 10k into a supra and 20k in a z? If the supra is better, then we have our winner. Overall price after mods is what I am after. Maybe one dollar for dollar will be a better drag car and the other will be a better track day car. We will see.

Personal preference is the supra will always look better and have a nicer interior. What I am really waiting on is which one ends up being more reliable. Both brands (leaving Toyota out of this since they didnt build the car) have had issues over the years. So far the supra has given me no issues. The 07 350z I had gave me multiple runs to the dealer for warranty work in the same mileage as my supra has.
The thing I love about Toyota is if you put 10K into the Z, you're putting 10K into the Z
But if you put 10K into the Supra, you're most definitely gonna have some leftovers

Yep... it basically came down to bad break-in instructions due to the rings requiring a "hard seat" to seal well apparently. The replacement engines were each dynoed prior to shipping to eliminate this (at least that was the insider's rumor on the forums). Basically everyone that redlined their '06 within the first 25 miles or so had no problems - with oil consumption at least.

Anyone that followed the break-in procedure from the manual (or bought one that had >50 miles or more of test drives on it) was adding oil almost as often as fuel. So we escaped all the suspension and brake issues of the 03-05 models, but picked up engine problems due to the interim changes before the HR update.

A few photos from the Cleveland Auto Show.

Not giving up the Supra… but I have to say the car looks better in person than in photos.

I disagree, seeing it in person took me completely out of any interest in it. The side profile, and front corner angle, really are a let down to me personally. It almost reminds me of a challenger down the side, almost flat.

I get the distinct feeling this car is wearing braces. Just look at that smile.
