Anyone removed the flimsy undercar brace?

Seriously why would you remove something on the advice of a forum when a group of engineers spent time designing and producing?? If it wasn't for a reason you think BMW was just like "Let's add random shit and just make them pay for it!"

I saw the same thing happen with the Lexus community for an underframe brace which is stock from the factory. It destroyed parts of the chassis not having it. Also, some newer cars are glued together which without bracing torsional forces in the long run can cause stress cracks or even worse.

Your logic is sound, but it's just too flimsy. My guess is there's some carryover from the Z4 which may actually need it. I took mine off and track my car, and I noticed its absence like I notice taking the engine cover off.

Like the EVAP shit that we absolutely have to have, and the goofy-ass stock intake muffler, and all the strut-tower bars that weren't on the 2020s, bullshit CCV trash, parking sensors, catalytic converter, etc. There is a bunch of stuff on the car you don't need, especially if you're serious about various variations of motorsports.

Some people might want to keep that K brace; some definitely don't need it, like all that other bullshit. But 'because it's there it's 100% needed' isn't the always accurate.

As others said - its there for a reason, if it was not necessary they would have done without it. Nobody here on this forum knows why it was put there.

Same reason why I haven't yanked off the weight that is literally bolted to the rear subframe/diff - probably used to damping vibrations.

Out of pure curiosity if BMW removed all the complaints you have other than the parking sensors how would you even own a GRsupra? Do you own a Porche Cup car, or a GR Cup car, or any cup car for that matter? You bought a US road-legal vehicle, not a race car. It's all mandatory. You can remove whatever you want but to think you have some kind of inside knowledge when you had ZERO percent involvement in this chassis being developed is just your opinion, and frankly, you're just some random person with a high post count, not a structural engineer.

They're not complaints per-say, just facts. And I removed all that shit because it's unnecessary for what I do. And I did buy a race car. It just came with a bunch of bullshit that isn't necessary at all, again, for what I do.

I do not own a cup car. I have no interest in turning the steering wheel.

And no, I'm definitely not a structural engineer, wasn't involved in anything ever related to anything about anything.

Edit: to answer the question directly: I do own a Supra without all that trash. Makes 1000hp almost, seems fine.

It surely adds stiffness in plane when that brace is in tension. By it's design, it would have no benefit with loads out of plane, so do not judge it in other scenarios. Rope could also be considered flimsy but can take a whole lot of load in tension.

I did remove it. It’s pretty damn heavy and made zero difference.
