They're both great and I love them a lot. It would be such a blast to have them all. This is a moment where we cherish all of these cars being built.
I appreciate the thoughtful post and general opinion of your comment.

But I will disagree only in regards to having to cherish the new Z. I suppose our standards today are so low because we don't get that many 2 door sports cars anymore, but the new Z is a disappointment, at least in regards to how it's been marketed, hyped, and the pricing.

My brother who owned a 350Z when it was first launched, was an avid Z enthusiast, it was truly an industry changing car at the time. Stunning futuristic looks, powerful engine, was THE affordable sports car. I remember being a kid sitting in that and the amount of attention it got was overwhelming. Everyone wanted to know what it was. (This is obviously before today's stance bois multi-colored panels drift wannabes trend)

The reality Nissan re-skinned the 370Z, put in a different engine, and wants $40-$51K for it. And all the hype leading up to it by the fanbois about how it's the Supra killer for less money. etc. I don't have to re-hash entire threads about it, but now a supposed respected YouTuber like Mark is clearly wearing rose colored glasses to make all the detriments about the new Z like it's a GOOD thing compared to the Supra. Seriously lost me when he's like "All these things can be fixed with XYZ mods." A majority of people do not want to have to buy coilovers on a $50K sports car just to make it have actual sports car handling, or at least speaking for myself.

And lastly if we look at other upcoming cars that people are genuinely excited about, they appear so far worthy of the hype. The GR Corolla, Civic Type R, Lotus Emira, ZO6, etc. Just wait and see SG's video gloat completely about how the feel of those cars with the tight suspension and handling, and will contradict his take on the Z.

I 100% agree. In terms of looking at the cars dollar for dollar, pound for pound (like someone else mentioned earlier), the Z cannot hold a candle to the GR Supra.

I want to highlight your fourth paragraph as well. Him glossing over genuine issues (not deficiencies or technical shortcomings being purposeful in the pursuit of fun) like the fuel starve was something that made me go ???????

I appreciate that the Z is a more old fashioned take on a sports car, but it needs to be said that there are issues in terms of aerodynamics, engine/transmission, driveline that will be red flags if you were to do some highly spirited driving like the GR Supra.

It does surprise me that almost everyone else that has driven the Z (bar Matt Farah and Kirk Kreifels, with their reasons defending the Z being insanely backwards and idiotic, they preferred the Z because of "heritage" and the fact that Toyota codeveloped the sister cars with BMW), addressed the obvious shortcomings that the car had. Thankfully it wasn't all doom and gloom, but still am confused by Mark in this review. Jack and Britt were more level-headed I feel.

The VR30's stock oil pan, which is made from plastic, apparently gets damaged quite easily (who knew that isn't a good idea lol), and the Z has zero underbody protection in that area. An aluminium oil pan like the one from Z1 motorsports cost about $450.

With GR Supra, you won't even need to worry about silly things like that.
A lot of newer cars have plastic pans. My GT350R had one, too. For multiple reasons it makes no sense to me...
But, I'm not seeing them fail, so I wouldn't complain, personally.
I am curious to read the reasoning behind it, though.

Topic related: I'm really surprised at how personal some people take the opinion of some guy on YouTube. It's his channel, so he gets to express his opinion on things, just as much as we do.
If someone feels the need to disparage his videos, they are more than welcome to make their own.
That would be a fun watch.

I can spend an hour on buffeting - how’s that work for you lol. He goes public and gets heat for some obvious stupidity. That’s how it works. He can also stop making videos as well, The psychology of this is simple as I explained earlier - he elicits responses for views to get paid and is easily labeled a shill. He is rather idiotic in his insistence on something as simple as buffeting. No views no money. Polarization. Is key. This or that. Simple.I

Yep. That's how the Internet works. Even the government has caught on.
I can go into just about any web forum or Facebook group and post ONE subjective comment and count on about 100 angry replies. People are predictable and *mostly* really, really easy to get fired up.
As for SG, I watch for the technical content and ignore the opinions. I.E. the dyno runs and laps, on this video = amazing. GREAT info

I think you will find that most/all reviews have been done by reviewers that have manged to get their hands on the Z. How did they get their hands on the Z? because nissan gave them that Opportunity. So of course im expecting alot of these reviews are going to be 100% biased or Nissan wont give them new car to review next time. I watched one youtube that reviewed the Z and Supra. As a 2 door sports car, the Supra was better. but the Z won, because of trunk space and cabin room.........

This is a forum for discussion, are we not just discussing? I only see folks calling into question some of the unbalanced bias. And “make your own video” I think we have more than enough people making Supra videos lol

A lot of this is mostly wasted energy anyway. Not expecting any of these YouTubers to give any weight to anything that goes on here. Oh well.

There's discussion, then there's people taking things personally, in some way. I guess we all gotta choose our own battles. Personally, I couldn't care any less that someone doesn't like my car. I'm glad- otherwise everybody would have one. For example: All the BMW comments I get? Don't care. ?
The "make you own video" was my being facetious at those complaining about the SG video. They are, of course, more than welcome to do their own vs video so they can complain on the Z the entire time. Turnabout in fair play ?

GT350R at least has some underbody panels to protect the oil pan, the Q50/60 and the Z are all wide open in that area.

Nah, the 1st gen 86/BRZ also had fuel starvation issues in the corners from the factory. Tons of cheap fixes, some as simple as a little fuel door flap that gets installed onto the pump that closes keeping fuel trapped by the pickup.
I see. I had a 2014 Frs for 7 years, never noticed that! Guess I have never driven it hard enough....

I always watch SG vids to kill time at work.

That one homie has clearly disliked the new Supra for years now. When he gets the manual, he still is going to hate it.

I like how he talks about comfort, when I'm like 6'4 and only issue I will get is if someone parks too close for me to open the door more than 5 inches. Bro, if you are small and you're hitting your head, retract the damn seat. :p
