Z: $39,900
aftermarket LSD: $2,000-$2,500 installed
better tired: $? depends on which ones you go w/

still a better buy than the 2.0 imo especially since a lot of them are loaded = $47k...
Plus a better exhaust is a must, Supra has an awesome exhaust from factory from what I can tell. The Z sounds like a Camry.

Seems like that quote is optimistic. The car will cost closer to $45k out the door. LSD cost will probably be closer to $5k due to demand. You may need new wheels to go with the tires, so decent quality ones will probably be close to $4k for a set of wheels and tires, even more depending on wheel quality. Even after that, you're left with a car that still could use bigger brakes and is nose-heavy.
I never had it done but a lot of 370Z owners said it was only about $2k with labor. Some were able to have it done for a few hundred less.

It would be an easier decision if the 2022 Supra was dual clutch.
Why would a dual clutch make a difference? The ZF8 Speed transmission in the Supra shifts incredibly fast. It shifts even faster than that with the xHP tune. The human eye/brain almost can not detect any form of delay/lag on the transmissions shifting in this car, either in sport auto or sport manual shifting via paddles. With the xHP flash, it shifts lightning fast the moment you hit the paddle. I can't imagine if a DCT could actually shift faster tbh, granted I've never driven in or ridden in a car that had a DCT, I just can't imagine it.

thanks! That’s good information I am going off reviews that say the downshift is lazy in the ZF8. Driving a 22 3.0 next week and will read more about that tune as well. Thanks again!!!! Very helpful.

i was just using MSRP. if we going with markups and etc we have people paying over $50k+ for a 2.0 in places like CA. 😂 it also depends on what OP is planning on using it as. if a daily street car i think it will subvice.

i could be wrong but i believe the 2021+ sound a little tamer than the 2020 models.

anyways, as @F1 Silver Arrows, drive them both and then make up your mind.

I was just estimating tax, destination, maybe an option or 2, and cost for a premium color like red tbh. I have little doubt most dealers will add at least a $10k markup on top of that.

I did see $2k quotes back in the day, but I'm assuming its going to be more with an influx of demand from new owners combined with short supply in today's market.

Genuine question. If one of these Z's pulls up to my lil two-point-oh supra at a stop light, who's gonna win?

I get it it's not as good as the straight six but surely the 400 HP chest thumper has an advantage somewhere?
The 2.0 is 400-500 lbs lighter and has 50/50 weight distribution. It has an advantage on windy roads where handling matters more than power.

No definitive answer about a stop light race, but driver mod does matter.

Downshifting is anything but lazy the way it’s tuned in the Supra. Sport mode is killer fast. Or code in sport+ for even more aggressive.

Buy the car that you're happier with day to day, I don't love the supra nose and some other features, but I feel more strongly against Nissan and the average Z (350/370) owner so the Supra is for me. If a lot of your focus is on price, focus on the platform that enables the mods you want to do, if you are going for big power maybe one platform is better than the other, if you want to drift maybe one is better, etc. Either way you're going to have fun, but make sure you're happy daily with walking up to your car or seeing it in the morning. The specifics aren't going to matter if you purchase a car you don't love for what it IS

I’m going to be honest and say the likelihood of just being able to “go test a new z” is soooo unlikely. Between the car market the way it is right now and the fact it’s got a cult following its highly unlikely you’ll just be able to go to a dealership and just “test drive” one. They’ll be snapped up by people long before they actually arrive at the dealership.
