I really enjoyed all the mems on this thread. Joking aside....I drove an automatic Supra and loved it. I own an automatic BMW and love it. I bought a manual and drove almost 500 miles to get it. My Supra is my toy and it is decompressing to shift and be more in tune with drive on the back roads. Automatic make you push the hp numbers and track times but take the nirvana away from the emotional connection. I actually have a 800 hp chevelle that was an automatic, that I actually just converted to a tremec manual. Is it slower now? Yep. Do I enjoy it more? Completely. I suffered 1/8 and 1/4 times purely for pleasure. I'd rather last longer and enjoy the drive, then get there faster and miss the connection. To add to some of these mem points....my car will be theft proof when it becomes a classic and insurance will be cheaper with more stupid people who can't drive manuals.?

I love engagement so much, I converted my riding lawnmower to a manual. Now, I can enjoy those blissful perfect shifts up and down my lawn.
A real enthusiast unlike all the AT ? around here. Keep MTs alive.

As a manual driver for 15 years and tracking my s2000 for 10 of them, I don't understand why you would spend close to 60k on an inferior transmission. The zf8 is nothing short of "fucking amazing". Remind me again of what the definition of the word supra is.

Unfortunately, your use of the word "inferior" isn't as universally applicable as you pretend. I've driven the automatic Supra - It's "fucking boring." And while the nomenclature is relatively arbitrary, your reference to the word "supra" is at best, problematic.

I would argue that the manual transmission is in many ways above, before in time and perhaps at a mild stretch, transcends the automatic driving experience.

Maybe stick to flapping your paddles.

So your retort to misusing the English language is that I haven't tracked my street car which I drive on the street?

Good one! ?
I honestly would like to have both. I do prefer manual in town. I’m not in a giant bumper to bumper town, so we (wife and I) enjoy our manuals. But for extremes, gotta agree with master Rott. Track or Mihammy traffic, an auto (still cringy word) is nice. And this ZF version is wayyyyyy smoother than I ever anticipated. If I could only find a way to turn down the dadgum sound while flapping thru my paddles or in sport mode… stupid track exhaust loving wife!!!! Not her… the exhaust (ofc ?).

I prefer the manual because it doesn't sound like farts when I shift.
Ah - so you prefer the sound of silence during your slow, imperfect, organic upshifts. At least as a consolation you can still hear the braaaap of the superior ZF farting off into the distance ahead of you.

The funny thing is, at my last track day, I was the only MT MKV, and I routinely passed the auto guys lol. The sound of silence when they were behind me though? Music to my ears ?
