Interesting to discover how much difference the '23 revisions make to the steering, it's certainly emphasised by GR as an area of focus:
  • Modified stabilizer bushings for improved initial steering response
  • Revised chassis control systems (AVS, electric power steering, and Vehicle Stability Control) for improved overall steering feel and controllability when pushing to the limits
  • Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) control and finely tuned shock absorber damping characteristics for improved roll balance and ride comfort
  • Weight reduction of 1.2 kg per wheel, contributing to improved ride comfort and handling stability due to resulting reduction in unsprung weight (Premium/GTS only)
This is interesting. Assuming they would do the minor electronic updates and even bushing (go SPL!), but that last bullet... When I read "per wheel" I assume they mean the actual wheel and not "per corner." I thought the actual wheels were the same as previous years? It surprises me because they are already a solid, light wheel from the factory. I certainly haven't been in a hurry to replace them.

The Supra not fun? Damn, I love driving it, because it is fun and for me, solid. Just a good time.

No, the Supra has new wheels for 2023. You must have been dodging the 2023 update info pretty hard to miss that!

If the 1.2kg per wheel holds true, that's ~2.6lbs per wheel, making them around 21lbs for the front, and 22lbs for the rear. Pretty good for a 19" wheel!

Don't get me wrong the R35 is an incredible car, and the few things I don't like about it are common with people who own them.

Bang for buck from a performance standpoint the car is really hard to beat, that's why I bought it. I've put 60k miles on the car in 9 years at FBO E85 mod wise and I haven't had one single problem with it. I beat the crap out of it every time I drive it, every single time. It'll cut consistent 1.5-1.6 60's on MPSS's and run 10.1's at the drag strip and I can drive it there and back. I've driven it all over the country with my mountain bike and golf clubs in the trunk lol.

But at the end of the day it's more engaging of a driving experience for me in my Evo's and the Supra. The first time I showed one of my friends rolling launch in the GTR he called it a robot car. And he's 100% correct, the car does most of the work for you.

I've been in 1500hp+ GTR's and I just can't justify spending that kind of money to build it, and its going to break more often. I'd rather spend the money on a different platform that offers a different experience or build something unique.
My Evo is on a different level than most modern cars, when it comes to driver involvement. It's making it REALLY hard for me to sell, but I know I should.
I do HPDE and TA in my cars. I know the GTR is great for all out lap times... But I feel like I'm not doing all the work to get there. The Supra is RWD so at least I HAVE to actually drive it will to get a decent lap lol.
I still love the GTR and probably would have ended up in one, anyway, had prices not jumped RIGHT before I decided to buy.
I'm not disappointed in any way, though.

IF a new nismo version of the Z is released, do you guys think Toyota will reply with a GRMN model? At this point, I wonder if a nismo version will even outperform a 3.0 model lol

I’ve owned an R35 (2013 BE) and The Supra and the Toyota is a better bargain by far and all around a better looking car in my opinion. The GT-R is so dated looking at this point to me. Supra has timeless looks (At least MK4/5). Also the GT-R rides like a total trash truck even though I loved mine, I can’t forget the ride quality. I only sold it because of the threat year after year of R36 is coming and I didn’t want stuck with an unexpected equity smash.

As a fan of all imports and not a fanboy of any specific brand, Nissan missed the mark trying to put too many elements of the old vehicles into play. The collectors have thrown their sites on the 300ZTT due to its classic sporty design. They should have revived the 300 with the looks of today much like the Supra.

Why buy any sports car if you aren’t getting the top performance package at least has always been my train of thought. Yes some can’t afford top trim but if I can’t afford a car as it’s meant to be I’ll just get the best I can afford.

To each their own though. Just a few thoughts I have had on these 2 cars.

Oh nice! Thanks. Honestly I just haven't been keeping up. I kind of wrote it off as more of the same. Very cool to see they put news shoes on 'em. They look great! It will be interesting to see if they're the same size/offset and are a direct swap to previous years (though that info may already be out there and I just don't know). If they are I'll probably grab a set and powder coat 'em.

Unlikely. The predicted GRMN was using BMWs halo engine and besides that being “unlikely” although not impossible, the cost of a GRMN with that kind of engine etc would probably be significantly higher than a nismo version of the Z
