Are you going to buy the 4 cylinder version?

I still think they don't phrase that well. I believe Tada said to buy the 4cyl option for swaps because it doesn't make any sense to buy the expensive motor option just to remove it. I dont think they are implying the 4cyl model will have any other advantages when swapping outside of being more economical

How many 2JZ engines are there out there that make this actually a viable conversation??

I have 3. One built for the E46, 2 spares. Bought the pistons first (std size) then went on to buy the suitable block that doesn’t require oversizing. [insert face palm here] 1st and 2nd engines were terrible, 3rd miracly had the cleanest cylinder walls of any used engine i had ever seen.

You can still buy new OEM shortblocks and cylinder heads (though they've almost doubled in price the last few years). There's been no apparent shortage of import longblocks still available from the usual suspects. Sourcing an engine is not a problem; there are a lot of over practical hurdles that would need to be overcome, though.

Social media answers are always a bit too sketchy to put much credence in.

Still, a kit from Toyota that allows a 2JZ to communicate with the electronics in the car would be a dream come true.

It could be that Toyota would sell the 4-cylinder version only limited to those who would do 2JZ engine swap.

Why is there a “wink” emoticon at the end of Toyota’s reply? Could it be that Toyota is fooling us?

So, after all, it would utilize a DCT; not a ZF 8-speed automatic?
