The winners will be all of those who choose the car they want for the reasons they want and don’t give a damn what anyone else thinks about it.

and that is ok too. Trophies for everyone
I am competitive, i guess.

All things we already know, but the media is still riding on the Z hype train.

Also interesting thing in the article though, the chassis still says Z34!? I knew it was based on the 370Z, but didn't know they didn't even bother updating the chassis code lol. I guess we'll have to wait another 15-20 years until we see a Z35.
It's really just a carry over chassis with some reinforcements here and there, the under body looks basically the same as the 370Z. Speaking of the Z's under body, there are hardly any aero panels and asphalt panels to smooth out air flow, reduce lift and reduce NVH, even the decent economy cars these days have smoother and more covered up under bodies than this thing.

Now let's talk about Jason Cammisa's own criticisms of the Z after driving it for some time during filming this drag race video:

Quotes and paraphrases of some of his takes from the post and comments:

Lot of comments about the likelihood of spinning (New car show crowdkiller to beat the Mustang?):
-Steering doesn’t say a thing until you’re VERY sideways. Bridgestones are either grip or ice. Given instant breakaway and dead steering, the car is a HANDFUL. Leave ESC on. You will spin it. Immediately.
-“wow a lot of these things are going to get wrecked”
-ESC does freak the F out on some transitions and then very much kills the fun. It actually feels like a software error and i expect that to be fixed
-"Did you smile while driving it?" - "Not as often as I almost sht myself. :)"

-Mild understeer at limit.
-Not an easy drift car: explodes sideways after lag, ESC comes back on in transitions, 7k limiter cuts power completely til revs drop to 6k, then fades back in. Lots to work around.
-Neither Z trans will let you do a burnout 🤦‍♂️
-It’s not a vertically high trunk space so not much will fit
-Turbo lag: Nissan calls it a big plateau from 1600-5200 rpm but the boost gauge (and my ass) say “bullsh-t.” It’s quick down low and then f-cking explodes at 4500.
-Supra is better on both the steering feel and weighting
-Manual transmission grinds on quick shifts
-Terrible-sounding stereo. sounded like an AM radio. I genuinely was shocked to see the Bose logos on it. 90's nav

Seems like a lot of areas where the Supra doesn't have these issues. I'm sure the Z community will have some excuses about it being a better driver's car and not just for drag racing, or something about some better features, but seems like it's losing in a lot more than just a straight line.

So, "the perfect in between car" is everything but. Not as fun as the cheaper BRZ/86, and not as fast and refined as the more expensive Supra.

"BuT iT's FuLly BuIlt By NiSsAn!"

Yep, and that's exactly the problem.

Cost cutting, cost cutting, and more cost cutting.

It's almost like they put a higher horsepower engine into a 15-20 year old chassis, coupled it with a merc transmission.

Serious question though, why did it take them this long to even come out with this? Honestly if this car came out sometime around 2015-2016, it would be a zero question insta-purchase for some people.

Can someone please enlighten me. So among 100s of reviews how can only 1 came up with a drag race video of the Z? Hagerty who done the drag race was able to achieve exact google numbers (0-60, 1/4) for the two other cars on a dusty track in the middle of the desert, and without prep? do you guys think the numbers are accurate?
