Way back in 1963, the C2 Corvettes came from the factory with a split rear window. In 1964, that partition was eliminated. Many 1963 owners had their windows replaced to look like the 64-67 model years. The "split" windows never returned. However, the small block split window coupe's value rose much faster than the 64 and newer cars values.

My opinion about the Supra graphics is that they instantly set the car apart from all non-45th anniversary Supras. When a BMW shop owner saw my car for the first time, he said the black graphics really goes well with the other black components. Of course, as they say, "To each his (or her) own"

I'm keeping the graphics! :)
The idea that the 45th anniversary edition is in any way special enough to have a long term second hand price delineation from a regular model of the same year is very very wishful thinking. Having said this, since the wing and the decal are literally the only evidence you paid extra, I think removing them is goofy. ?‍♂

Looks better without the stripes. Or at least for what I have planned. I took them off today.

Many C2 owners thought that the "out of the ordinary" split window C2 would never be worth more, also. It took some years before they were proven wrong.

I’m 41. I definitely won’t have this car in 20 years. I’ll have moved onto the next big thing. Some people act like cars and the car they have right now defines them. I see it simply as the car I have right now and the car I want to enjoy at this point in my life.

People who hang on a car for “value” are a different breed. It’s all disposable just like our lives. I know I’m gonna enjoy what I have while I’m alive. It matters zero to me if the next owner got a steal or not. I have chronic leukemia, I’m certainly not sticking around long enough to care.

So your bet is that the 64 C2s are worth the same as the 63 split windows. You're on!?
Are you dense or being intentionally obtuse?

Your 45th anniversary Supra will not go up in value relative to a standard premium Supra of the same model year in the mid to long term.

Beyond that, I'll go further and say that the only differentiation that we will likely see in the value of these cars is a manual transmission - particularly if we are indeed at the end of the era of rear wheel drive manual transmission petrol sports cars.

I don't have a crystal ball - just common sense and a keen sense of history. ?‍♂

I don't think this is entirely true. People like a "good story", when they buy an older car. What's unique about the 45th? Not much, a strut brace, Mikan Blast paint, a stock adjustable wing and a side stripe/decal.

But even so, it has a badge and VIN from the factory indicating a limited production of 900. And that's enough to get people 10-15 years from now willing to pay more (in addition to a MT, RWD, 6Cyl T sports car).

With that said however, doesn't much matter since most people here (myself included) are heavily modding their cars and most collectors want something close to stock when buying used.

But in the end, it's just a car... a fun one at that. Just drive the damn thing, enjoy the hell out of it!

Don't forget about the black brake calipers. ;)

I disagree that there couldn't be a variation in price but the sticker is likely the last thing that will make a decisive difference. There have been some really odd things that set apart classics.

Likely, many years will pass before anything like that comes to fruition; the sticker might not even be visible/intact by then.

Enjoy 'em while you have the chance. We won't be here forever.

These aren't corvettes. In fact they are the furthest away from that echo chamber of a car community that you can get. Please stop bringing vettes up here to compare them to an orange supra that won't be worth anything more than a normal supra. We all literally do.not.care.

I remember a coworker telling me about the time he was selling his MR2 Turbo. After a month of not getting any interest, he added "bone stock" to his ad. The next day, his car was sold. The majority of sportscar buyers limit their mods so that they can easily bring the car back to stock....or they leave them stock. I think selling a stock, limited edition version is easier (not impossible) if mods are limited.

I'm very sorry to see this about your medical condition. My day of keeping a car for 20 years are over, also, given my age, but that's why I've rented so many amazing cars. Why limit driving experiences?
But you really shouldn't get upset when some other owners don't think the same way you do as far as mods go. We each have preferences that make us unique in one or more ways.
Lots of Supra buyers paid not only a higher MSRP, but also ADM. I did and am okay with that.

I am looking to keep my orange Supra for 20 years and longer ?

One possible direction of the next big thing is soundless EV running on AI that will self issue a penalty ticket when the driver is 10% over the speed limit…fuck that

Or it could be V8s & V10s running on efuel or liquid hydrogen ? that I can’t wait
