I thought this was an argument like 20 years ago. Maybe even 10… but today?!? Yet this still goes on ?

I too used to be jealous I couldn’t afford a track car with a lightning fast DSG transmission (called PDK in Porschlandia) all those faster fuckers had, ripping around the track & corners with ease. I called it cheating, less fun, not even real driving, until… I joined em with this bad boyEEE.

Now the new cheat is Porsche drivers telling each other it’s not a real Porsche (the newest ones) with all the super track electric gizmos on them. Kid you not. Two guys on the track were arguing the same shit and the guy with the newer one admitted it’s way easier. They both agreed the newer one was faster because of it and it is less involved than the older version.

That doesn’t support my argument that the ZF is as engaging but it‘s a stark extreme how far these things have come. My S2K used to be able to run in the red (fastest) groups, no HP mods, and still keep up with the pack. Hell, I could do pretty damn good in the MX5 as well. Now, no way either of those cars are coming close and I’d probably be an obstacle for those poor guys to just get around.

*(just some random ramblings, & thoughts - carry on with the insults)*

the majority of the people in this thread that are adamantly "manual only, screw auto!" probably use auto-rev downshifting.

For those with a pulse for real driving, manual transmissions are the only choice that matters. Mastering the clutch, slamming through gears, and commanding every rev is a thrill that separates true drivers from the masses. Automatics? They’re a lazy shortcut, coddling those who’d rather let a computer babysit their ride than take control. Winning in a manual isn’t just a victory—it’s a middle finger to the soulless ease of automatics, proving you’ve got the skill and guts to dominate the road.
ChatGPT please explain why manuals are better since I cant come up with something myself.

So you're saying... those not good enough to do something themselves, turn to some sort of automatic system to do it for them? Interesting.....

It does work incredibly well that's for sure. My car is always available for you to thrash if you wanna try it out.

I still refuse to use it tho. I'll fuck up my rev matching and heel toeing on my own.. LIKE A MAN ?

Someone mentioned "driving like a man" Here it is (again)
Manual GT40 probs 20 million bucks worth, in the wet going for it. Total commitment as it should be on a race track.
