Should Toyota Supra keep FT-1 2+2 configuration? Or lose backseats?

What do you think should happen?

I had a 300ZX and in that community the 2+2 was the one no one wanted so seeing everyone here wanting a 2+2 is weird to me. Also don't think I know anyone who kept the back seats in their Supra. I always forget they're supposed to be 2+2. I'm ok either way.

Oh and my 300ZX was a 2+2 and I hated it when people realized that and wanted to cram into my car, slam the passenger seat back into place, and jam their knees into the back of the seats. I left the back seats folded flat so people didn't ask for rides.

of course it isn't comfortable, it is just the fact that they are there for the possibility of having more buds with ya (how else are you gonna stuff 3 chicks with you for a launch control reaction video?) whereas it can feel almost claustrophobic with a pure 2 seater.. personally I've always allowed people to lay sideways in any of the 2+2s coupes I've had, makes it a little more comfortable for everyone. Regardless, no matter what, 300ZX, GT86, even the RX8, don't think I've ever seen a RWD 2+2 coupe that hasn't had its naysayers against the backseats. I get that it is pointless for a lot folks, especially if it is an extra vehicle, but 2+2 is much more ideal as a daily..

I think there is definitely room for some back seats. It appears to have more space behind the driver seat than past Zs.

don't kid yourself, this ain't having backseats...just because they pushed the seat closer to the middle of the chassis don't mean there is any space

The 300ZX community didn't want the 2+2 since none of the 2+2s were Turbo cars, at least not the 90-96 cars imported to the US.

Also, to use a Jeremy Clarkson-ism, the 300ZX was a pornographer's car, bought by someone who doesn't have more than one friend at a time, certainly not by someone with kids. ;) Or if he had kids, it was probably a guy who has his child support garnished from his wages. :p :D

I loved my G35 and it had two back seats but at the time I had it, like you, I wished it didn't.

Now that I've got a kid, suddenly the idea of a 911-style vestigial backseat is appealing.

Well I guess I speak like a younger person then. Just didn't like people screwing up my back seats. Then again I would often take my shoes off to get in so I didn't get the carpets dirty. It was an exceptionally clean car.

I like big rear ends and I cannot lie.

Really? All the Supra owners I know still have their backseats. I actually don't think anyone from the local Supra club deleted the backseats.

I feel you, I once had to fit 7 people into my car. It wasn't fun, but we all got there lol.

Another example of where the space between the door and wheel arch can be misleading.

I am intimately familiar with the California T. The California/California T are decently large for their segment, GT cars. More inline with the size of an Aston Martin DB11 or Mercedes SL. Much bigger than the Z4 we have now seen. Even in the Cali, the rear seats are terrible, un-GT like. The Supras of years past have larger rear seat room than this. Hopefully the new Supra follows tradition and at least has a somewhat usable area behind the front seats. The picture may be a bit deceiving as the overall length of it is greater than what we have seen thus far from BMW/Toyota.

The DB11 comes in at 187 inch and 181.6 inch for the R231 SL. I don't think the California is that big. At 179.6 inch it is only 1.8 inch longer than the MK4 at 177.8 inch.
