Driving Manual is fun and is a great throwback.

Everyone wanted manuals back in the day because the automatics were just awful for performance.

The same argument can (and will) be made for electric cars vs internal combustion engines.

The new automatics outperform manuals, most race cars now are automatic or some type of electrically controlled manual (dct/pdk).

I'd really like to pick up a manual supra to go along with my automatic - just to say I have both and have nobody tell me im wrong either way.

I'd really like to pick up a manual supra to go along with my automatic - just to say I have both and have nobody tell me im wrong either way.

That would be great, to have each version. I'd be ok with either. I gave up my manual for the Supra and never looked back, but I would not be sad if the Supra was a manual.

Wait. How much tq can the stock clutch handle before it melts and you spend money on removing it from the block for the upgrade. Honestly question.

Why do we keep going to this? I could just ask how much better cars trans can handle. Amg gt for example. It's what 700hp stock?

This wasn't about the performance of the part. Not everyone needs more than stock hp. It's the pettiness of the preference and the colorful insults we can spew. Get with the program.

Ahem, and professional drivers, but preach on about the outdated manual. Change takes awhile for some, we get it.

I bought the MT Supra because of the old school formula (relatively light weight, RWD, inline-6 turbo, and of course MT). If I wanted more speed, I would've gotten something else, and it won't be an auto Supra.

Take away the MT, it instantly loses a major recipe in the formula and makes it much less appealing to me.

I’ll take the engagement and superior, resale value thank you. The “but it’s faster” Shtick won’t help you at selling time and you will be judged for your poor choices measured in dollars. Otherwise it the same powertrain from my wife’s X7 which is basically a minivan.

What else would you have bought for speed besides a Supra?

For me personally, cars that have more power than the Supra are also way too heavy and probably the only answer for me would have been Porsche 911 or maybe a 718 Cayman GTS

I got lucky to be able to drive both. Got the automatic last July and sold it last month for profit bc it was a nitro yellow and the tariffs scaring everyone. Got lucky there, now I drive a nitro yellow manual, and it feels completely different, definitely slower and more quiet but the experience of driving it is so much more enjoyable for me.

I have no issue with evs, but I already have a supra. Not against that change. I'd love a lucid Sapphire just for the speed factor. But ain't lookin for a 200k+ car.

As a recent buyer, I'll throw in my 2 cents. Looking for my new daily driver after 18 years in my Acura, I managed to test drive both, and enjoyed both driving experiences.

I started the research/buying experience a few years ago and was determined to get a manual- the Supra's "new" manual when it became available landed it on my list to check out. Loved driving the stick Supra, reminded me of my earlier, smaller cars when I was younger and that perfect feel of in fully engaged driving. I also loved the feel of the automatic, and reminded me how much I hated those manual cars on my daily commute in stop and go traffic, especially wearing my leg out going up Mississippi River bridges daily.

The result was a shock to me when I realized the auto was the way to go for me - sure I miss driving a stick some days, but this car has been so much damn fun in the last five months I have zero regrets with my decision.
